Atlantic Superstore

Project Description
Terrain Group, working with the architectural design team, traffic engineers and the client, have developed six new Atlantic Superstores in Nova Scotia, and upgraded an additional six existing stores within the Maritimes.

The stores represent a new paradigm in grocery marketing with their "market" concept and consumer-friendly facade and facilities. These comprehensive projects were facilitated developments incorporating land planning issues, site servicing, government approvals, property acquisitions, street closures, signalized intersections, river crossings, stormwater management, floodplain protection, community liaison and public walkway design.

Services Provided
Terrain Group provided site survey, planning, permitting, community liaison, and site services support to the project team. Development Agreement and street closure negotiations were also in Terrain Group's work scope. As part of the permitting process, Terrain Group worked with Environment Canada to facilitate approvals for a bridge crossing over navigable waters. Terrain Group also worked closely with the Sackville River Association to design an enhanced Fort Sackville Trail that is a popular public space adjacent to the project.

Stormwater treatment measures were designed-in at two of the stores which were located adjacent to highly visible water bodies as part of the overall site servicing. The client utilized Terrain Group's colour graphic capabilities to create marketing and presentation plans for each site.

Terrain continues to provide Planning and Engineering services to the client on their strong capital works program in Atlantic Canada.
