Bedford South Sanitary System Review

Project Description
On behalf of several landowners, Terrain Group began the planning process for approximately 900 acres of undeveloped land between Highway 102 and the Bedford Highway. Clayton Developments has retained control of the various land parcels and is now the primary developer of this project. This area is adjacent to Crestview Subdivision in Bedford and extends towards Halifax to the Royale Hemlocks Subdivision. The development includes commercial, institutional, and residential units and will be serviced with central sanitary, storm, and water distribution systems.

Services Provided
Clayton Developments retained Terrain to review the existing sanitary sewerage system along the Bedford Highway to the Mill Cove Sewage Treatment Plant. The work included reviewing record drawings and preparing calculations to determine the available capacity remaining in the existing sanitary collection system. The calculations were based on Halifax Regional Municipality design specifications and included proposed development areas as well as existing areas connected to the system. Based on the results, the client was able to determine the limits of development that could discharge to the sanitary system and have detailed design completed.
