Central Kings Rural High School Renovation

Project Description
Central Kings Rural High School was earmarked for rehabilitation so that it could continue to serve the students of the area. A three-year rehabilitation plan included: construction of a new gym and classrooms to the rear of the school in year 1, refurbishment of the old gym and classrooms in the central portion of the school in year 2, and demolition and reconstruction of a portion of the front wing in year 3.

Services Provided
Terrain Group provided civil site services to support the renovation plan. Initially, historical records were reviewed to map existing services. It was necessary to undertake field reconnaissance since a number of additions to the system were not reflected in the drawings. Year 1 work was completed in 2000. Water, sanitary, and storm services were designed in detail. Drainage for the new bus loop and disturbed areas was included. The project was undertaken in three tenders and required record drawings of the previous work for each tender. Renovation continued in 2003; however, no civil support was required. Services and grading services are anticipated for year 3 work in 2004.
