Craigwood Subdivision

Project Description
Terrain Group carried out a detailed inflow/infiltration identification and reduction program in an existing sewershed which experienced high Inflow/Infiltration (I and I) volumes, restricting further development.

Services Provided
In a small portion of the Port Wallace area in Nova Scotia, a sewershed tributary to the 390 Waverley Road Pumping Station was exhibiting signs of high peak wet weather flow caused by extraneous flow. As a result, a freeze on development expansion was put on this area by Halifax Regional Municipality. In an attempt to free up capacity in the existing sanitary sewer system, to allow further development, Terrain Group conducted an inflow and infiltration reduction program in this sewershed. This program consisted of identifying inflow and infiltration sources, quantifying them, predicting the peak wet weather flows based on these sources of I/I being removed, tendering and supervising the construction of all the remediation, and providing flow monitoring after the remediation work was done to verify the results. Much of the I/I identification that took place on this project was done in wet weather conditions.
