Home Depot
Project Description
Home Depot, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, is expanding into Atlantic Canada. Home Depot stores cater to “do-it-yourselfers,” as well as home improvement professionals. All stores in the Home Depot chain conform to standard site design principles relating to grading, servicing, stormwater collection, building siting, and access. This project included siting the building on a lot surrounded by public and private streets. Challenges relating to this site included direct access to the site from a limited access highway via an off-ramp extension, and creation of front parcels by the original land developer. The City of Moncton required that stormwater quality and quantity issues be addressed.
Services Provided
Terrain Group provided the following services for this project: topographic, survey, site civil engineering design, and contract administration support. Detailed engineering design drawings showing site services, water, sanitary and storm sewers, and power and gas lines were prepared for the Home Depot store and a future out parcel. Grading and landscape designs were also prepared. The civil services design package was submitted to the permitting agencies for approval. Terrain provided regular inspection reports to the Architect during the construction phase.
