Nottingham Park / Union Street RCDD

Project Description
Nottingham Park, in Bedford Nova Scotia, an infill development located between two longstanding residential areas, was planned using a community approach. Town residents formed a committee to provide input into the planning process by working with the developer. The site's stormwater was assessed for quantity and quality. Downstream areas with longstanding flooding problems had to be upgraded. Vortex separators were designed to treat stormwater runoff from the development.

Services Provided
Terrain Group provided professional planning, engineering and surveying services. The Development Agreement was obtained after a lengthy public process. Stormwater management services were provided to determine the cause of the current flooding and to determine the impact of the new development.

Various scenarios for minimizing the flooding potential were assessed. Meetings were held with the residents and the individual circumstances for each property were recorded. The recommended solution was presented to the residents and the Municipality. Terrain Group then provided full design services for the remedial work. Engineering support during construction was also provided.
